FRIDAY APRIL 27 CHAOS & CARNAGE TOUR WITH:CARNIFEX,SPITE,WINDS OF PLAGUE...

Carnifex

For more than 25 years, Death Metal has been the most maniacal and vicious form of rock. Covering the obscene and praising the perverse, extreme Death Metal still reigns as the driving force that continues to devour all other forms of hard rock. As each year passes in this brutal movement it becomes increasingly difficult to find suitable leaders to carry the torch and continue to entice and surprise an audience that certainly isn't shocked by much, and is definitely impressed by little. That search has ended.

Allow us to introduce CARNIFEX.

Derived from the Old English word for "executioner," their moniker could not be more appropriate. It's a word that reeks of death and destruction from the Dark Ages to describe a fierce, dark death metal band. It's hard to imagine that San Diego - known for its white sand beaches, endless sunny days and astronomical real estate, is also home to the brutal beat down that is CARNIFEX.

In 2005, vocalist Scott Lewis had a chance meeting with like-minded, gifted drummer Shawn Cameron. Having both played in a countless number of bands over the years that just didn't "seem to fit," the connection between the two was felt instantly. Together, they began a search to fill the musical void that had existed in each of their lives. They quickly formed a group and hit the road. And CARNIFEX, being the serious-minded musicians that they are, hit the road hard. Refusing to be another "here today, gone tomorrow" trend, CARNIFEX let nothing stop them from perfecting their live show, touring relentlessly and writing brainsick, yet intelligent, songs. Having endured everything from tour cancellations, van breakdowns and inevitable line-up changes, that "magical fit" was solidified by the end of 2007. Scott and Shawn were joined by the intensity of guitarists Cory Arford and Ryan Gudmunds. Bassist Fred Calderon rounded out the furious fivesome.

The non-stop touring and methodical songwriting eventually resulted in CARNIFEX selling over 5,000 copies of their first full-length album, Dead in My Arms, with little publicity. Not surprisingly, industry types started to notice; however, none as quickly as Victory Records. The men of CARNIFEX were welcomed to the Victory family almost immediately after they showcased their brilliance to the staff in November 2007. Having spent a lot of time writing during the previous year, CARNIFEX was primed to get into the studio to begin the current masterpiece that is The Diseased and the Poisoned. Zeuss (Unearth, Shadows Fall, Hatebreed) at Planet Z Studios was a natural choice for the band as producer, and they entered the studio rapidly and intently.

CARNIFEX is something musically unique. But what really makes CARNIFEX stand out from the throngs of other hard rock acts currently scouring the planet is their savage live show. Their declaration to make every night an "experience" for fans rather than just a "show" has proven to be perhaps the most appreciated trait of the band among fans. But you can keep your pyrotechnics and other special effects at home…CARNIFEX relies solely on the power of their music. "Every night, we strive to play extremely tight. Sometimes is can be difficult to make such an intense show so interactive, but we make sure that everyone is getting involved," says Lewis.

On June 24th, CARNIFEX will proudly deliver their ferocious new album to the metal masses. Intriguing and armed to the teeth with an arsenal of blast beats, machine gun riffs and vocals exorcised from the deepest pits of hell, The Diseased and the Poisoned is the soundtrack to your worst nightmare. CARNIFEX is ready to steal your soul.
"Originally formed in 2006 as a grindcore band by guitarist Jeremy Carroll, Chicago's Oceano went through a revolving cast of players until settling on a new lineup and a new sound in 2007. The final lineup, consisting of Andrew Mikhail (guitar), Danny Terchin (drums), Adam Warren (vocals), and Kevin Colabuono (bass), would go on to develop the group's current sound. Pushing the limits of extreme music and influenced by Behemoth and the Acacia Strain, the band transitioned into a heavier, more technical death metal sound. This change was helped along by adopting the severely detuned "dropped A" from one of Mikhail's past bands, creating a guitar sound that was as thick and murky as Warren's anguished growls. In 2008, the band signed to Earache Records, and began a heavy touring schedule. That year also saw the departure of Carroll and Colabuono and the arrival of bassist Jason Jones. In 2009, the band released its full-length debut, Depths, on Earache Records." - AllMusicGuide

Winds Of Plague

From the shadows of Los Angeles, Winds of Plague has been hitting the West Coast indie music scene for the last three years. They offer up fast and heavy hardcore melodies served with an attitude that gets your attention every time. This young band brings energy, emotion, and mayhem to the stage. Their dark blend of eerie keyboards, insane drumming, and snarling vocals, which flow into slow, brutal breakdowns are their signature sound. Winds of Plague is built on principles, both musically and lyrically. Musically they stretch beyond the boundaries of the cookie-cutter metal found on CD racks today. Their fresh approach to the use of keyboards as the backbone for their songs ensures that they will not be confused with the overwhelming metal-mania emerging lately into the hardcore scene. Lyrically they go beyond complaints of broken hearts and being swallowed by the cold darkness, exploring themes of human nature which transcend the adolescent tales of love lost and mistaken identity, which are found as so many anthems for bands today.

With their first CD "A Cold Day in Hell" on Life Sentence Records, Winds of Plague is ready to bring their unique sound to the table and break all boundaries. Scheduled for a summer release, the CD will be the kick-off for a full US tour. Winds of Plague is an enthusiastic touring band, and is easily recognized in cities throughout the western US. A tour across the country will bring them further recognition and no doubt push them through the ranks to receive the acclaim that they deserve.
For the recent successes of technical death outfit ARCHSPIRE to come into fruition, certain variables must align. Talent, drive, creativitiy, and absolute dedication are only a few characteristics one may notice about the group, and indeed many have experienced the bi-product of these characteristics:

A tight live performance, where impressive speeds come grinding to a halt, and in even less time twist and contort into complex passages rife with beautiful harmonies, juxtaposed against insidious melodies. An attention to songwriting, focusing not only on technicality, but originality as well, take this sub genre and put it on it's ear. And the combination of musical backgrounds, which is apparent in much of ARCHSPIRE'S music, showing itself through catchy rhythms, interesting riffs and arrangements, and progressive passages.

Pushing boundaries of speed and endurance set only by the genre's top artists, while remaining accessible and interesting is no small feat. These Canadians have proven themselves worthy of touring and playing with bands like Origin, Decapitated, Hate Eternal, Abysmal Dawn, Vomitory, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Aborted.

When all the elements required align in such a way that they form something original, and interesting, it becomes a catalyst for something new... and in the case of ARCHSPIRE, All has indeed, Aligned.

For fans of : Origin, Spawn of Possession, Obscura, and Immolation.
Hailing from the Bay Area, Spite is a five piece metal band ready to redefine the boundaries of heavy music. Formed in fall 2014, the band released their first EP titled "Misery" February 2015, to be followed by their self-titled full length December of 2015. Avoiding the pitfalls and labels of sub genres, Spite writes heavy, aggressive music with the sole purpose of bringing out the inner rage inside us all.

Buried Above Ground
